Work out the lesson
ClassicSnowboard
The on-piste refinement lesson: for riders who can already get down and want to stop skidding. We work on carving, on the edge and on the quality of the turn, with a National Instructor.
Not a lessonto learn how to get down.
Classic Snowboard is Preskige’s on-piste refinement lesson. It’s not for beginners: it’s for riders who already control the board, get down anywhere, and feel they’ve been stuck at the same point for a few seasons.
The problem is almost always the same: the turn is a skid, you can’t carve it. The board scrapes instead of biting, and the track you leave is wide instead of a single line. The rest of the run may work fine: that’s where you get stuck. This is where we start again.
We watch how you ride
Before correcting anything: a few runs to see what you actually do, not what you think you do.
We work on one point
One technical goal at a time, with targeted drills. Changing ten things at once doesn’t work.
We test it on the piste
Repetition on the slopes until the movement becomes yours and you stop having to think about it.
You leave with homework
What to train on your own next time. A lesson that ends when you stop riding is no use at all.
The turn,not the hard trick.
On-piste refinement comes down to four things. They’re the same ones a judge looks at in a competition and the same ones you feel underfoot when a run leaves you happy.
Edge
The moment the edge stops scraping and starts biting the snow.
Carving
The board follows its own curve instead of sliding sideways. Behind you, a single line.
Flex
Under pressure the board bends and returns energy to you: that’s where the exit of the turn comes from.
Arc
The shape of the line. That’s where you see whether you’re steering or just coming down.
Carving was for specialists
To really carve you needed hard boots, plates and extreme angles: alpine gear. Huge precision, but a separate world, with its own equipment and rituals, that few people entered.
Some never gave up the turn
While snowboarding chased the jump and the park, a different culture grew in Japan — that of snowsurf: the board as a tool to draw, not to leave the ground. And in Italy the cult of the arc was carried on by coaches, instructors and enthusiasts who kept working on turn quality when it wasn’t fashionable.
The gear has closed the gap
Today’s boards, with normal boots and bindings, hold the edge the way rigid gear once demanded. Carving is back within reach of anyone who rides well — without changing worlds and without giving up comfort. That’s why it makes sense again to work on the turn.
It’s not a fad imported from elsewhere.
It’s the same old movement, with the kit finally right.
Sestriere isthe right place.
It’s not local pride: learning to carve takes three things together — good snow, the right pistes and space. Here you have all three.
You start at 2,035 metres and go up to 2,800: the snow holds, and holds for a long time. The Via Lattea offers over 200 runs across 400 kilometres of pistes, with demanding, scenic walls but also long, even slopes — the ones where you really learn to feel the edge, because you have the time to build the turn instead of just surviving it.
And then there’s the rest: Sestriere is a place of pilgrimage for winter sports, and anyone who comes here knows it. The landscape isn’t a detail — it’s half the reason you come back.
What you work with, depending on what you want.
You don’t need to buy anything for this lesson: you work with your own board. But knowing what kind of kit suits your goal changes your expectations — and often explains why some things aren’t working for you.
Soft flex
Forgives mistakes and goes with the movement. Great for working on feel and rhythm, less so for grip at high speed.
Medium flex
The compromise that almost always works: responsive enough to carve clean, forgiving enough not to punish you.
Short radius
Tight, lively turns. It asks for precision, gives back detail: the choice for refining technique.
Long radius
Big, wide turns and grip at speed. For those after the angle and the power underfoot, on wide groomed pistes.
Nothing to buy here: you work with your own board.
We only tell you what would change with different kit.

Four questions about how you turn. They help us choose and prepare your board — and help you know where you are.
At the end we ask for your name and email: your profile and the «Ready to carve» drills PDF arrive by email as soon as you finish. We need the email to send you dates and to prepare your board.

Where do we write to you about your board?
We’ll email you your profile, the board we prepare for you and the «Ready to carve» PDF. Your contact details also help us organise the session.
We’ve just emailed you the «Ready to carve» guide and the profile with the Jones board from the quiz. Inside are the drills to do before you reach the slopes.
From here we take over: we’ll write to you with the available dates for your session. In a hurry? Find us on WhatsApp at 349 4989653.

«The finest turn isn’t the hardest one. It’s the one that feels right, and that you wish would never end.»
Gigi Lozzi
Co-founder of Preskige and head of the snowboard section. He is a snowboard National Instructor: the highest teaching qualification, awarded by FISI.
With refinement this matters more than anywhere: the difference between a turn that works and one that doesn’t is in the details you can’t see on your own. You need someone who really knows what they are and how to work towards the goal!

Before youbook.
You already need to be able to ride on your own and control the board. Classic Snowboard is a refinement lesson: if you’re on your first runs, the right lesson for you is a different one, and we’ll tell you before you book.
The minimum duration is 2 hours. You can be 1 to 5 riders: the base is €70 an hour for one person and you add €15 an hour for each extra participant. The group has to be at a matched level: that’s the condition for the lesson to work for everyone.
No: you work with your own. During the lesson we tell you whether and how your kit is limiting you relative to the goal, but it’s not a lesson that forces you to buy anything. If you need gear, there’s the partner hire shop in Sestriere.
No. The lift pass and any hire are always separate.
No: they cost the same, €70 an hour. The difference isn’t the price, it’s the board. With Classic you bring your own and we work on your whole way of riding; with SoftCarving we prepare a Jones board chosen from your profile (from the quiz) and we work specifically on carving. Same price, two different paths.
Two products that speak the same language and cost the same, but with different goals:
- Classic Snowboard — an all-round lesson on the turn. The board isn’t required: bring your own.
- SoftCarving — the next step towards real on-piste carving. The board is part of the product: do the quiz and we choose one of the three Jones boards for you, tested and used to the full.
And SoftCarving is on the piste, yes, but you adapt to the terrain: bumps and a little off-piste (it’s not a freeride experience), then back onto the groomed snow — so your turn becomes more adaptable everywhere.
Three things, and none is complicated:
- Do the quiz. It’s not a game: it’s how we know what to prepare for you. Without it, we can’t choose the board.
- Do the PDF drills. After the quiz we give you «Ready to carve»: drills to do on your normal runs, before you come. Those who arrive having done them gain at least half a day.
- Bring your own boots. We provide the board and bindings, but the boots are best the ones your foot is used to.
The cards are valid for the whole 26/27 season and are used whenever you like, in matched-level groups of up to 5 riders. The price is per person, because the board and the video analysis are per person: in a group each person uses their own hours and no one pays for the others.
In Sestriere, on the Via Lattea. We confirm the exact meeting point along with the time when you book.
